Eligibility for Admissions
UB caters to Local and International candidates with a strong ambition to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies in a student-centered learning environment.
Students are encouraged to apply to UB directly from Secondary School.
How to Apply
Application Deadlines
Please note that the deadline to submit applications for August 2024 are as follows:
- Early Bird: March 26th, 2024
- FHS programs: March 26th,2024
- Last call: May 31st, 2024
Early applications are highly recommended.
Application Response Letter
Applicants receive an emailed response within 15 business days of applying. This does not apply to the Faculty of Health Sciences programs. Applicants must check their spam and junk mail before following up on an admission response at the University.

Program Requirements
Each program has its own set of program-specific requirements. Kindly click the link below to review these requirements.
Commencement & Registration
The August (Fall) Semester begins the third week of August and the January (Spring) Semester begins the third week of January.
Registration for classes usually runs for the first two weeks of the semester.
After Acceptance
After getting accepted into UB the next step is to pay your Commitment Deposit of BZD$175 (Local Students) & USD$175 (International Students) – this fee is a portion of your first semester fees.
Placement Exams or ATLIB
All first-year students who have never done College Level Math and English Courses are required to take UB’s Placement Exams for Math and English. However, students who HAVE taken ATLIB are NOT required to take the UB Placement Exams.
The Placement Exams are offered several times throughout the semester and those who miss the Exams are required to register when they are next offered. Kindly contact odl@ub.edu.bz for further information on Placement.
ATLIB
Yes, however, you will be required to take the UB Placement Exams for English and Math. For Placement Exam dates and registration, contact odl@ub.edu.bz
Declined Admission
If you did not get accepted to the program you applied, kindly read your letter carefully and follow the recommendations made by the Admissions Team. You can reapply after completing the recommended courses.
Program Change
Yes, you can change your program – kindly contact the admissions Office at admissions@ub.edu.bz for the details.
Incomplete Application
If your application is incomplete, you will be notified and required to submit any outstanding document(s) by the specified deadline. Check your spam and junk mail regularly for updates.
Orientation
Yes, Orientation is mandatory for all New Students. Undergraduate and Graduate Students have separate Orientations.
Usually the first week of August for August (Fall) Semester and first week of January for January (Spring) Semester. Kindly refer to the academic calendar for exact dates.
Transfer of Credits into UB
The University accepts transferable credits from other local and international institutions. Local applicants may click on the following link to navigate the Course Transfer Matrix to view the courses that qualify for transfer into UB https://portal.ub.edu.bz/
This information is provided during your New Student Faculty Orientation when you complete your appointment with your assigned Academic Advisor.
Transfer of Credits outside of UB
Yes, the University of Belize produces over 1,000 graduates annually. While many remain in Belize, some also venture into further studies abroad and their credits usually transfer. We encourage our students to ensure that they receive all the necessary details of their admission from the universities they are planning to attend.
UB Graduate Programs
Yes, UB currently offers three Master’s programs: the Master of Philosophy, Master of Business Administration and the Master of Educational Leadership. Applications for these programs open annually from January to May.

UB Payment Plan of 25% per month – four consecutive installments.

Timetable
Students have full control over their schedule and self-register for classes based on their Program Sequence. All New Students are required to attend the University’s Orientation Sessions where they learn the details of the registration process.
Modality
Majority of our programs have a blended modality (FTF & Online). However, some programs are offered fully online.
Deferral
Deferrals should be submitted prior to the start of the semester you initially applied for.
Duration of Program
Full-Time Associate programs are 2-years.
Full-Time Bachelor programs range from 2 – 5 years.
Certificate and Diploma programs range from 1.5 years – 2 years.
Graduate programs are usually 2 years.
Note: Some programs also have the option of Part-time study

You will meet your Academic Advisor during your Orientation.

Bachelor in Nursing Program
Yes! Applicants must be 17 years or older at the start of the semester.
Application opens January and ends March for the BNUR program. It is recommended that you apply early.
No, they will not transfer, they are two different programs.
The Associate in Biology and Chemistry. This program provides the foundation needed for those students who don’t have a science background or don’t meet the age requirement.

If you initially submitted a complete transcript, you can simply submit a readmission form with no transcript:
